Hybrid Options
Posted by dirttodone
This week Golden Eagle announced they are now offering hybrid as a third option for home structure (along with full log and split log). They provided the family with a rendering of similar home as a hybrid home. The images are below. The family was impressed with the hybrid option but has decided to stick with their split log design.

What are the advantages of split log construction? Is the energy efficiency of the home changed by the change in thermal mass? I am assuming that hybrid construction combines traditional log construction with split log construction. Is this right?

A response to your questions has been posted in the blog. The decision was made to post it as a regular post so it would be more visible to all readers of the blog as your questions were good ones and likely questions of other readers.

I am a fan of the hybrid, love log and timber framing. Interesting blog, I'll be checking it out. Have a good day! Sandy
